TASKS
Creating and Entering Questions 1
Questions are entered in parts and then edited.
The minimum is the question stem and one right answer.
Questions can also be created during Task #2.
Selecting and Editing Questions 2
Selects questions without formatting.
Format multiple versions of a test from the pooled file.
Archive the pooled file for later reference.

Printing Cram Notes and Files 3
Prints the data file in condensed form
to the screen or to a file for printing out.
Prints cram notes for the student in a hurry.
Formatting and Printing Tests 4
Selects questions from one or more question files.
Shows the question as it will appear on the printed test.
Selects specific questions or samples automatically.

Directory and DOS 5
Shows the files on your disk (if you have forgotten).
DOS returns control to the DOS prompt (>) which is handy
for copying, printing and renaming files.
Review and Test 6
Practice is a partial cure for test anxiety.
Three levels of thinking are operationally defined.
Results can be used for advising and grades.
Expanded Menu 7
BYE can be used to end the program at almost any
prompt and return to the TASK Menu. All permanent files
remain intact, however, work in progess may be lost.
Duplicate Checking
Enter the name of the question (data) file
you want to check WITHIN for duplicates
or
the name of the file you want to check BETWEEN
one or more other files for duplicates.
CAUTION: Erasing is permanent in this task.
Make backup files and know your file names.
SYSTEM CHECK
EQ.EXE was not found on your working disk
or
the program was not started with EQ.
(This feature insures you have the necessary
parts of Equalizer and use the minimum
amount of available memory for each option).
Formatting and Printing Tests
Enter the name of the question (data) file
you want to select questions from to format.
(For practice, enter A:EQCHAP10.IQF)
Enter whatever name you can remember.
If it is in error,
the Directory and DOS prompt will appear.
Directory and DOS
This is the lost-and-found and fix-it task.
If a file cannot be found in the current directory,
then enter DOS and make use of operating system commands.
Look in the computer's user's manuals and find how to use
DIR, COPY, DEL, RENAME, TYPE, PRINT, XCOPY, and EDIT.
Printing Cram Notes and Files
Enter the name of the question (data) file
you want to view on screen or print out.
(For practice, enter A:EQCHAP10.IQF)
Enter whatever name you can remember.
If it is in error,
the Directory and DOS prompt will appear.
Selecting and Editing Questions
Question (data) file names are limited to
eight characters plus a three character extension.
Examples: EQCHAP10.IQF, CHAP1.TXT, BIOLOGY.T01

the Directory and DOS prompt will appear.
Automatic Duplication Checking
Duplicates are two questions that
are more than 56% identical.
Answer (N)o, if in a hurry or if you
want to include similar questions.
Duplicate Checking
Each new selection is now checked against previous selections.
You can also check against other files in your directory.
CAUTION: Checking more than one other file requires disc access time.
When similar questions exist, you can select one,
or the other, or both.
Creating and Entering Questions
Question (data) file names are limited to
eight characters plus a three character extension.
Examples: EQCHAP10.IQF, CHAP1.TXT, BIOLOGY.C01
PATH tells the computer where to locate the file.
Omit the path if the computer is set to Drive A
and you are using a working disk in that drive.
Search strings begin with an F
F Bearcat = 1 term (will also find bearcats)
F bare cat = 1 term
F bear AND cat = 2 terms (AND must be in UPPER case)
F bear AND cat OR Bearcat = 3 terms (OR must be in UPPER case)
After the first find,
enter an F for each additional find
until the search ends.

Selecting by Key Terms
To check the directory for file names to be searched:
For one file: enter the path and file name.
For a set of files: enter the path and then
use an * for the variable part of the names.
Examples: *.bio = all files ending with bio
BIO*.* = all files beginning with bio
BIO*.FIL = all files beginning with bio
and ending with .FIL
